July 4th is this weekend and we’re celebrating America turning 250 years old with our July 4th King Cakes for only $25!!!!! Grab your traditional cinnamon and sugar King Cake topped with Red, White, and Blue sugar. Festive sparkler is included! Pickup only on Friday, 7/3 at either location.

We also have Strawberry Cupcakes decorated in Red, White, and Blue vanilla buttercream and sprinkles.

Birthday dinner is complete! Sushi and a burger from @doda_dallastx hit the spot for another trip around the ☀️. This cozy spot is perfectly unassuming and is 👩🏻‍🍳💋. Wagyu burgers are ground every morning and home made buns are baked fresh every morning. Onion rings were killer and it’s BYOB. 😎

Not all R&D is a success. This was my first attempt at a #vegan Chocolate Flourless Cake. It. Was. A. Complete. FAIL! 🙃 I need eggs to help it bind everything and @eggsfromplants a didn’t work. It took waaaaay too long to bake and is too soft. It’s so sad 😆. Back to the drawing board 🧐

If anyone has any suggestions, lmk! And if you want to taste test, I made a small number. Drop by our Lake Highlands location and ask for a sample, but no judgement, cause it’s not perfect. 😉

This is the last birthday month special! Since my birthday is this week, I figured I would celebrate with CAKE! A Coconut Cake to be exact. While I was in Thailand a couple of months ago, my cousin taught me to make this cake that she serves at her restaurant, @saladterrace. It is so refreshing and delightful, it transports me back to Thailand every time I enjoy this cake. Not too sweet with fresh coconut flavor, it’s the perfect summer treat!

Summer is here and y’all, ya girl needs a break. Owning your own business means it’s never ending. I’m usually working Tuesday-Sunday and even though we’re closed on Mondays, it’s a day of errands or other projects that I just didn’t get to during the “week”. With the summer being the slowest time of the year, I’ve decided to close one Sunday a month to catch a little break and try to enjoy life and maybe see the hubs a little more. 🤣

Happy Mother’s Day to all the hard working moms out there! I recently had a small scare with my momma. She fell and broke her hip while in Thailand. My sisters and I have been able to go out and help and I was fortunate to be able to spend the last several weeks with her and helping her with her recovery. (Although, she may tell you differently as I pushed her hard with her PT drills 🤣) She’s been recovering well and we’re hoping she’s able to make it back stateside by the end of the month!

Cracking eggs for egg whites for our macaron production this week. We crack each by hand and sift out each egg yolk by hand ensuring they don’t break. (You don’t want any egg yolk in your egg whites when making a meringue 😉).

We will use all of these whites but you’re probably wondering, @cheftidapichakron what do we do with the yolks? Good question! We actually have recipes that need only egg yolks, such as our Key Lime Curd for our Key Lime Tarts. But sometimes we actually trade with a friend in the industry! @chefreyeduong with @chimlanh uses fresh egg yolks for her aioli. So on occasion we trade because she can’t use egg whites for anything and instead of throwing them away when she cracks eggs for egg yolks, we use them and trade egg yolks for them! 🤗 Waste not! We don’t like throwing away product and this helps each of us with sustainability! It’s a win-win! 🤩

We had a blast at yesterdays World Down Syndrome Day Market hosted by @chefreyeduong and @chimlanh!

I never get the chance to take any photos but when @yungursaminor came by to pick up her beignet order, she brought her doggie with her, who aptly is named BEIGNET! 🐾 So I had to get a picture!!! 🤣
